This is what forgiveness looks like

Return of the Prodigal Son   (Rembrandt)
Imagine somebody opening your brother’s front door, then shooting him as he’s enjoying a bowl of ice cream.

For Brandt Jean, this was not imaginary.  His brother Botham was killed a year ago by a neighbor who mistook his apartment for her own.  Dallas policewoman Amber Guyger then thought that Botham was an intruder, and fired at him in alleged self-defense.

Just a few days ago, Guyger was “sentenced to 10 years.”  Brandt Jean was in the courtroom and amazingly asked the judge if he could give Amber a hug. Permission was granted, and the world can now see what forgiveness looks like.
