Bottom line: They don't know

Methuselah Star    (ESA/Hubble)
There are lots of things to wonder about.  You can wonder what’s for dinner, or you can wonder how old the universe is.  Perhaps the latter is better solved after the former is resolved.

Scientists have been pondering the universe’s age for eons.  They’ve arrived at conclusions such as “13.8 billion years.”  But when a single star’s age seemed greater than that, they were foiled again.

The truth is, no one really knows.  There are great mysteries that may never be solved by earthbound souls.  But it doesn’t hurt to wonder.  And it doesn’t hurt to probe.  And it doesn’t hurt to pray for Truth - if we're ready to receive it.
