He practiced what they preached

America lost a treasured son early this morning.  Elijah Cummings died at age 68, reportedly of longstanding health issues.

Cummings wasn’t one to remain silent in the face of threats.  During last winter’s committee hearings, he famously stated: When we’re dancing with the angels, the question we’ll be asked…  Did we stand on the sidelines and say nothing [to keep our democracy intact]?

Cummings attributed this moral fiber to his parents, who were both preachers.  He remained actively involved in the Baptist

Church.  Cummings’ wife eulogized her beloved husband with these words:  He believed… that our nation’s diversity was our promise, not our problem.
