On a clay
tablet, a man named Nanni stated his
case in Akkadian (a now-extinct “East
Semitic language”). He wrote to a
merchant named Ea-nasir, basically
demanding money back from a shady
deal concerning copper ore.
Nanni
especially complained about being
treated with “contempt.” It just goes to
show: Customer relations were as
important back then as they
are now. Contempt has no place in
a good business plan.
