Some things never change

But for some idiomatic jargon, a 3,800-year-old customer complaint from ancient Mesopotamia sounds like it could have come from today’s social media.

On a clay tablet, a man named Nanni stated his case in Akkadian (a now-extinct “East Semitic language”).  He wrote to a merchant named Ea-nasir, basically demanding money back from a shady deal concerning copper ore.

Nanni especially complained about being treated with “contempt.”  It just goes to show:  Customer relations were as important back then as they are now.  Contempt has no place in a good business plan.
