Chin up!

In today’s “brutal” workforce, first impressions can make or break a job interview.

Candidates are therefore turning to plastic surgery with hopes of getting ahead.  A study conducted by (you guessed it) a cosmetic-surgery website claims that plumped-up skin and a reshaped nose can help land that coveted position.  Such candidates were thought to be “more competitive and motivated.”

Of course, it always helps to keep your chin up.  If genetics militates against this, well then, you can fix that too.  According to the same oracle, “those who had chin implants were perceived as motivated and trustworthy.”

It's the Commute

Miami Traffic    (Photo by B137)
If you find yourself burned out before even getting to the office, it could be the commute.

Daniel B. Kline reports that “23 % of workers have left a job because of the commute.”  This is especially true for those in big cities such as New York and Miami, but is also becoming a
problem within rural areas.

Companies that wish to attract qualified workers are becoming more and more attuned to flexible alternatives.  They are offering work-from-home days, as well as schedules that avoid rush hours.  Some are even shifting to a “four-day workweek,” or relocating closer to where employees live.

Win with a Grin

(Fair Use)
Smile when you’re happy.  That’s a no-brainer.  But some say to smile though your heart is breaking.  Why bother?

University researchers claim that smiling not only “makes you more approachable,” but also makes you “more likeable.”  And if that weren’t enough, it also makes you seem “younger and thinner.”

So it’s not too late to have it all.  Just practice your very best gap-toothed grin, and be lonely no longer.
