Divorce: 20-20 hindsight

As the saying goes:  Sometimes it’s darkest before the dawn.  Then there’s that other saying:  Hindsight is 20-20.  Both can apply to marriage and divorce.

In a Prevention article titled “10 Things Divorced People Want You To Know About Marriage,” hindsight plays a salient role.  Consider these pieces of advice from seasoned veterans:

Next time around, “hang in there and work it out.”  “Finding a new partner,” in and of itself, is no miracle cure.

Marriage can be hard work, but such work isn’t necessarily bad.  It can be a spiritual practice to renew your bonds daily.

Keep initial vows fresh and “hold each other accountable” to them.

And here’s perhaps the toughest one of all:  Nothing is ever just your partner’s fault.

Uh oh, the jig is up!
