Raining cats and dogs and...

Rain of Fish   (1555 engraving)
When it rains hard, we like to say that it’s raining cats and dogs.  But when the wind picks up, you can add fish, “birds, bats, frogs and snakes” to the list.

Feisty wind can scoop animals right out of their habitats and drop them onto land.  Or it can knock some down from the sky.  You might then get dinged with a fin, wing, leg or fang.  Which can be nothing compared to what they’ve just endured.
