Afghan shopkeepers have been ordered to remove the heads of their mannequins because a particular exposition of Islamic law forbids “any artificial representation of the human form.”
Those who tried to get around this decree by using mannequin head coverings were warned that “the angel of Allah” will therefore withhold blessings from their shops and homes.
