Context is Key

You can spend a lifetime engaging in good works, but end up cancelled for your latest mistake.

Such mistakes were sometimes made hundreds of years ago, within far different cultural contexts.  Pope Francis recently asserted that “context is key.”

Within each historical era, as well as within each individual and society, there exists a multitude of “differences and sensibilities.”  These can either be understood or cancelled.

The pontiff warned that the cancel culture does not defend diversity, but instead works against it by snuffing out a “sense of identity.”
