Is that really natural?

Zookeeper Erik Cowie died in what’s being called a “natural” manner.

Yet the very same NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner spokesperson who used this adjective is also saying that Cowie died “from acute and chronic alcohol use.”  So we ask: Is such a cause really natural?

The adjective “natural” has been defined by Dictionary as follows: “existing in or caused by nature, not made or caused by humankind.”  You’d have to stretch pretty far to make the argument that alcohol abuse is caused by nature rather than by humankind.   And with a belief that nature is created by God, you might have to stretch even further…
