As the Two Become One

As galaxies NGC 5953 and NGC 5954 attempt to merge, smaller NGC 5953 is hoping that this is not a fatal attraction.

It could go either way.  If the two become one, this will literally be a match made in heaven.  Yet if they can’t get it together, NGC 5953 will likely go down in flames.

Too soon to tell.  Give it another few hundred-million years, and an outcome will emerge.  In any case, it’s bound to be a long-term relationship.
