Wrong Aid

Face to Face    (Delta News Hub)
Do you shop Rite Aid?  If so, you might have gotten more than you bargained for.  And so might have they.

Reuters recently unveiled that Rite Aid has been secretly deploying “facial recognition software… in hundreds of locations in the US.”  Worse yet, its drugstores within
neighborhoods of color “were more than three times as likely”
to use this technology.

Still worse is that Rite Aid’s technology vendor, DeepCam, has been linked to China.  And before 2017, the chain utilized
“blurry photos” from a company named FaceFirst.  Black individuals, in particular, were often misidentified by such tactics.
