Those who like their
squid spotted may be disappointed to
know that scientists have now
produced “clear as glass” ones by
messing with their genes.
Those who like to leave
such things in God’s hands may soon be
even more disappointed. These same scientists are thinking
that messing with “brain function”
could be next.
Cephalopods have “large brains”
and “complex behaviors,” as
do humans. Would we want
researchers messing with our brains and
behaviors for their own future benefit? Probably not.
So it’s not too wild a
guess to suppose that “Sid the Squid”
might not like this either.
