Fiber can be good for you, but only
if your eat it. If you throw it down the
sink, you might end up with a bigger
problem than constipation.
And yet, people
routinely throw all sorts of things down the
drain.
Bones, celery, pumpkin gunk, coffee grounds, meat
trimmings, potato peels and even grocery-store
stickers are often stuffed into sink disposals.
Short of swallowing
stickers, there are many ecological uses for
such items. Bones can be added to
soup, pumpkin seeds can be roasted, and
coffee grounds can deter bugs when
sprinkled in gardens.
Instead of pouring food
down the drain, pour it down your hatch
instead. Wasting nourishment is bad
enough. Harming the environment by doing so is worse yet.
