“You can call me Karen,
but just don’t call me late for
dinner” doesn’t fly in certain
circles. That’s because political correctness
has reached an all-time high.
Domino's in New Zealand
found this out firsthand after offering
free pizzas to “mask wearing, law
abiding Karens.” Had they stopped at
that, things might have worked out. Instead, they alluded to stereotypical Karens who are allegedly white-privileged
offensive women.
The public not only denounced this reference, but also the promotion itself. Those who assumed that
all Karens are well off began to complain
that Domino’s should have instead offered pizzas to “people in poverty.”
But sometimes you just
can’t win. After Domino’s pulled
the promotion, some actual Karens were left
longing for free slices.
