Sometimes foul play can ruin a life. Even in basketball.
If an injury
is tough enough, it can interfere
with cherished hopes and dreams. But often, someone just limps off
the court (or is carried by those lucky
ones who can still get around),
and the game goes on.
A pick-up
player in Washington D.C. recently
make a different decision. After
experiencing the brunt of a hard foul,
he called 911. When the deputies
arrived, matters had already been
somewhat settled. Players were given “one
more chance to keep the game civil,” and life went on.
