When a
co-pilot of an Air China jet recently felt
the urge to vape, all bets were off. He tried to hide this addiction by meddling
with the inside-air controls. “Unfortunately,
he hit the wrong switch,” and oxygen levels
dropped. Masks came down, and
the plane plummeted to 13,000 feet.
Fortunately,
the flight crew realized the error and
reset controls. Oxygen levels normalized,
and the plane regained altitude. The
passengers were spared, but the pilot and crew
will suffer some sorry effects of addiction.
