'Marriage hangover' subsides

Many assume that marital happiness peaks during the honeymoon period. They conclude that it’s all downhill from there.

A study titled “Marital Instability Over the Life Course” indicates that marriage actually improves over time.  If you can get through the first 20 years (!), marital satisfaction tends to increase, “especially for husbands.”

So next time you’re tempted to bail, ask yourself whether persisting might be the better long-term option.  As God once said:  Loved the wedding.  Now invite me to the marriage.
