Revenge is Tweet

Sure Roseanne Barr made a mistake, and in her case a billion-dollar one.

Tweeted responses to this mistake, however, seem way more vengeful than forgiving.  Some are gloating that she will now get what’s coming to her.  Others predict that her life is virtually over.  Some even hint that her loss is now their potential gain.

This Twitter frenzy seems no kinder than Barr’s own tweet.  So we wonder:  Is there such a thing as the benefit of the doubt?  How about second chances?  Has anyone tried to imagine walking a mile in her unpolished shoes?

Racism is certainly alive and well in America, but not just in Roseanne Barr.  If we were to examine our own flaws as closely as we are now examining hers, we too might be tweeting apologies.

That is, if we’re not too busy tweeting barbs.
