Hair today, gone tomorrow

Engraving of Arnold   (Public Domain)
There are way more than two sides to every story, and Benedict Arnold’s is no exception.

Although his name is now generally synonymous with “traitor,” Arnold had once been considered a hero.  A lock of his hair will be soon be displayed at Fort Ticonderoga, a key site which he helped to capture during the American Revolution.

Chris Carola of the Associated Press tells us that “Arnold went on to become one of the Continental Army’s best battlefield
leaders.”  So why the change of heart?  When Arnold was passed over for promotions that he greatly deserved, he felt justified in turning traitor.

There are way more than two sides to every story.
