“At the end of the day” is a favorite saying among NBA players.  It’s a way of putting everything else in perspective.

And there’s plenty of “everything else” when you’re playing on an international stage.  Nevertheless, at the end of the day,

basketball’s just a smaller game within the larger game of life.

The Cavs, led by LeBron James’ example, were able to keep this in mind after losing the 2017 championship.  Rather than stalking off to the locker room, James wrapped his arms around MVP Kevin Durant in what seemed like a genuine hug.  He also made sure to congratulate “every member of the Warriors.”

Cleveland then sent a tweet to Golden State.  Its pithy message read “Congrats,” thus scoring a triple-double for sportsmanship.
