Nancy Reagan: More than okay

To be remembered for fiercely protecting the love of your life is no mean feat. When that love is your husband, all the better.  When your husband is president of the United States, even more amazing.

Along with her intelligence, style and wit, pundits are extolling the lifetime love that Nancy shared with Ronald Reagan.  If you protest and say that each had plenty of love before meeting the other, here’s what Nancy had to say:  My life didn’t really begin until I met Ronnie.

USA Today reports that Ronald, in turn, “penned a lifetime of gushing loves notes” to her.  Nancy later consoled herself with these “when he could no longer remember her.”

His battle with Alzheimer’s was the “greatest tragedy” of Nancy’s life.  She nevertheless remained fiercely protective of her beloved spouse throughout it all.

She clung to the hope that they would be reunited after death.  Struggling to maintain this faith, she turned to Billy Graham for solace.  Nancy implored Graham:  Just tell me if I’m going to be with Ronnie again. Just tell me that and I’ll be okay.

Graham replied, “You are,” and she is now way more than okay.
