Ultima Journey

New Horizons   (NASA photo)_
If NASA’s New Horizons spacecraft flies by Ultima Thule on January 1st, this will be a happy new year, indeed.

In case you’ve been hiding beneath a different rock, Ultima Thule is “a planetary body about the size of Orlando [Florida] in a region beyond Pluto.”  This makes it NASA’s farthest fly-by yet.

From this primitive space rock, scientists are hoping to discover more about the building blocks of our solar system.  Stay tuned, for this event will be broadcast, despite the partial shut-down of federal agencies.
