Does your tongue smell?

If so, that’s nothing to be alarmed at.  Scientists are learning that all human tongues smell - and in a really good way.

Turns out that there are olfactory receptors in some of the same tongue cells as taste receptors.  This indicates an intricate relationship between taste and smell. 

If researchers can figure out "how odor molecules modulate taste perception,” then “odor-based taste modifiers” might be developed to help curb excessive appetites for unhealthy foods.
