He
recalled a recent incident in which “a
fan had said some really ugly things at
close range to Russell Westbrook.” Although
Westbrook was one of Korver’s
key opponents at the time, Kyle
was determined to help right that
wrong.
Korver's
team, the Utah Jazz, met with
their organizational leaders in order
to address this concern. They decided to ban Westbrook’s heckler from
the stadium.
But
a band-aid alone will never heal an infected
wound. Societal manifestations of racism, both obvious and subtle, will need to be clearly identified and heartily
denounced.
