Necks on the Line

Giraffes have been on the International Union for the Conservation of Nature’s “Red List” of Endangered Species since 2016.

Due to “habitat loss, civil unrest and poaching,” this long-necked African species has suffered a 40 percent decrease in population within just three decades.  Although President Trump has called trophy hunting a “horror show,” his administration has loosened restrictions on the import of big-game body parts.

International and U. S. Humane Societies are therefore urging the United States to “stand tall” for these iconic animals.
