Flying High

Folks used to dodging pigeons on sidewalks would be surprised to know that some are worth thousands.  Even
millions, if you’re counting in euros…

The highest amount previously paid for a racing pigeon was a “mere” $425,000.  That’s nothing compared to the recent sale of a racer named Armando.  He “fetched a record 1.25 million euros in an online auction.”

The buyer is from China, “who will no doubt use his new acquisition to breed other champions.”  Pigeon racing is catching on in Asia, although declining in Europe.
