Chemo Caps

Hooked on Crochet  (Photo by pschemp)
Until there is a tight cap on cancer, Kurt Stapleton will likely be making cancer caps.

He learned how to crochet while in prison.  Suffering from an addiction to opioids, Stapleton had robbed a pharmacy.

After serving a three-year term, he began crocheting caps for chemotherapy patients.  This was in honor of his father, who had
succumbed to bladder cancer in 2006.

Stapleton now ships his caps “around the world, free of charge.”  He often includes comforting goodies such as candy or lotion.  When praise comes his way, he merely replies: I’m just a guy making hats.
