Once and Future Face

We are now able to gaze into the eyes of one who lived way before the advent of photography.

Futuristic technology combined with a well-preserved mummy has allowed scientists “to reconstruct the face of a powerful ancient female leader using 3D printing.”

Native to what is now Peru, this Moche matriarch died in her mid-twenties, possibly of childbirth
complications. Her 1700-year-old remains were discovered within a pyramid near Trujillo.

Known as “The Lady of Cao,” she was buried along with “a crown… gold and copper items… two massive war clubs and 23 spear throwers.”
