Don't know Melania, Donald or anyone really

(Painting by Pieter Brueghel the Younger)
We all continually deal in assumptions.  We think we know whom we’re talking about, but often (usually?) we don’t.

Melania Trump drove this point home lately when she responded to MSNBC host Mika Brzezinski’s comments.  Brzezinski had recently announced that Melania doesn’t want to continue with her “worst job in the country,” but “will do it for as long as she has to for the sake of her son, and that’s it.”

Melania didn't let that one slide.  She emphatically replied:  It is sad when people try to further their own agenda by commenting on me and my family, especially when they don’t know me.

It was Henry David Thoreau who said:  To a philosopher all news is gossip…  Whether we’re chatting up neighbors or celebrities, it all comes down to the same common denominator:  often the lowest one.
