Poland's 'Jesus the King' (Photo by MOs810) |
Rio de Janeiro has a huge Christ statue, so the south of Brazil decided to erect an even larger one. These so-called “Friends of Christ” in Rio Grande do Sul is naming theirs “Christ the Protector.”
Do they really associate a statue with Christ’s protection? This seems uncomfortably close to idol worship. And do they really think that faith can be measured in meters? “Less is more” might reflect “The last shall be first” a whole lot better.
The size game can go on and on with no spiritual resolution. Mexico and Poland are promoting even taller versions. Yet none of these structures will ever reach Heavenly heights.
