Facing Off

Who could that be?   (Images by TreyGreer62)
AI facial recognition is far from infallible, as recently evidenced within an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit.

Robert Williams had been wrongfully arrested for shoplifting, based upon a flawed recognition system that is especially inaccurate regarding the identification of African Americans.  The Detroit Police Department had furthermore relied upon a substandard video image in order to make this assessment.

Williams became the first United States person to be exonerated concerning a mistake of this kind. Let’s hope that his case will pave the way to greater justice for many.
