Muons: Ain't misbehaving?

Cheers!   (1837 Lithograph)
Although muons have been known to wobble as unpredictably as revelers on New Year’s Eve, they ain’t necessarily misbehaving.

It could be that some unknown force is causing muons to defy the known laws of physics.  Sometimes called “fat electrons” because of their negative charge and greater mass, these subatomic particles “act like tiny magnets.”  When they stumble upon a different magnetic field, they wobble oh so slightly.

Physicists thought they had that wobble down to a science.  But muons are not about to be pegged.  Like dancers with two left feet, they sway in ways that defy expectations.

Ah, sweet mysteries of life!  Just when you think a puzzle is solved, the pieces shift.
