Whale of a Tale

The Real Deal  (Photo by Michael Catanzariti)

As a near-empty train went careening off an elevated section of tracks, impending doom seemed more than likely.

Yet the train was caught by an unlikely savior: a whale’s tail.  Now this might seem like a whale of a tale, but truth can be stranger than fiction.  The train was indeed nestling atop “the tail’s two fins.”

The question remains:  What was a whale doing so far from shore?  The answer: Not much, since this was not an actual cetacean, but a sculpture of one.  Nevertheless, such reciprocity will hopefully bode well for the future of whales.  Perhaps humans will think to spare their lives in return.
