Robust Cousin

Meet SK-48   (Photo by Ditsong National Museum of Natural History)

It’s always good to have a robust cousin within the family line.  And it’s even better to have one with a glorious name such as Paranthropus robustus.

PR walked this earth at the same time as Homo erectus.  That would be about two million years ago.  Who knows?  They might have even stumbled upon one another during hardy treks across the terrain.

Whereas PR had small brains and big teeth, HE had big brains and small teeth.  They could have therefore swapped strengths: HE incisively tracking the game, and PR ripping it apart with lengthy incisors.
