It seems that we’re not out of the Stone Age yet, for humans are still enamored with rocks.

The latest to be coveted is a pink diamond from the depths of Russia.  This 14.83 carat sparkler recently fetched a grand total of $26.6 million.

How many folks can be fed instead?  How many healed?  How many housed?  How many educated?  And how much is too much for any one person?
