This one's for real

Up Close and Personal   (Photo by Michael Hohner)

During the Halloween season, there are plenty of spiders to be found.  The trouble is, many of them are fake.  Not so with the one called Great Fox.

This large hairy critter had been hiding out “since the early 1990s,” but was recently spotted in Surrey, England.  Its eight eyes (two on top, two up front, and four more in a row below) make it a formidable predator, chasing down insects across all sorts of terrain.

Once caught, the insects are injected with Great Fox venom, thus immobilizing them for the kill.  The monster spider then sinks its fangs into their newly-liquified organs, no doubt anticipating a sumptuous feast.
