Outdated

1955 Poster   (Fair Use)
There’s a thin line between cultural depictions and cultural sensitivity.  Where to draw it remains a gray area.

When Disney recently launched its streaming service, warnings regarding “outdated cultural depictions” were attached to films such as Lady and the Tramp (which contains Siamese cats with “exaggerated oriental accents”).  Song of the South was nixed altogether.

Cultural sensitivity is surely needed, but political correctness can sometimes go too far.  Some of the greatest works of art contain stereotypes that are potentially harmful.  Should they be
banned, edited, or left as brilliant examples of what not to do?
