Carbon dioxide is a byproduct of the industrial revolution.
Nitrous oxide and methane are byproducts of unsustainable agricultural practices.
Atmospheric levels of carbon dioxide and methane have approximately doubled since
pre-industrial times, and levels of nitrous oxide have risen by 23 percent. The World
Meteorological Organization reports that there is “no sign of a slowdown, let alone a decline" in these trends.
