To pray, perchance to sleep

Virgin Mary Praying    (Public Domain)
Insomniacs who seek relief might want to take a cue from Pope Francis.  He sometimes falls asleep while praying.

For an 80-year-old with the type of schedule that Francis has, this seems quite reasonable.  How many others his age have the stamina to be on the go from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day? And in the public eye, no less!  With arguably the toughest job in the world…

Consciousness spans many realms, including those within the Land of Nod.  Spirituality is often vividly expressed within such altered states.  So who’s to say that papal prayers aren’t effective during power naps?  Certainly not those of us who prefer reclining to kneeling.
