Some things are better learned vicariously

Pharrell Williams grew up near the NASA facility in Hampton Roads, Virginia.  Ever since childhood, he has loved learning about outer space.

Nevertheless, Williams has no intention of leaving Planet Earth.  Some things are just better experienced vicariously.

During a recent interview on the James Corden Late Late Show, Williams recalled a safari trip during which lions surrounded the open truck he was in.  Although he loves seeing big cats on National Geographic shows, having them that close was another matter entirely.

Williams’ earthbound tendencies have not interfered with his ability to convey astronomical feats.  As producer of the movie Hidden Figures, he instills great appreciation for space exploration and three of its key heroines.
