JK Rowling: Set free by failure

When you’re on top of the world, it’s sometimes hard to breathe.  Hitting rock bottom might be necessary in order to rebuild upon a more solid foundation.

That's the gist of what J. K. Rowling told Harvard graduates in 2008.  Her commencement talk was all about the benefits of failure.  Great losses can encourage a “stripping away of the inessential” and a focus upon what really matters.

Such thoughts are now ringing true for Ronda Rousey, who recently tweeted some of JK Rowling’s words.  Rousey also explained:  …Even when you prepare and give everything you have and want something so badly – it doesn’t work how you planned…

Unanswered prayers can be the very best gift of all. When Rowling regrouped, Harry Potter was born.  Rousey is now taking “some time to think and reflect about the future.”  Such reflection may spawn great creativity.
