Thou shalt not judge prematurely

“Thou shalt not judge” certainly includes “Thou shalt not judge prematurely.”

Pope Francis is therefore taking a “wait and see” attitude about President Trump.  The pontiff recently stated, “We will see how he acts, what he does, and then I will have an opinion.”

Fair enough.

Nevertheless, Francis warned “against populism,” telling Europeans that they should not turn to human “saviours” for resolving “economic and political crises.”  He cited 1933 Germany as “the most obvious example” of this tragic trend.

The antidote?  "Love one another," rather than idolize a charismatic leader.  Maintain social checks and balances in order to resist dictatorial delusions.
