Unto Nursing Homes Do They Part

(1656 Painting by Nicolaes Maes)

After enduring 62-plus years of “for better or for worse,” you would think that devoted spouses would be in it for life.  Not according to some heartless aspects of the nursing-home industry…

Wolf and Anita Gottschalk of Surrey, British Columbia have been forced to live in separate nursing homes for the past eight months.  People reports that they now only see one another “every other day,” and even that has been a struggle.

If it weren’t for family members who help with the “nearly one hour commute,” this husband and wife would hardly get together at all.  Their granddaughter, who has been helping with much of the transportation, recently stated:  They cry every time they see each other, and it is heartbreaking.
