Draymond Green: When the ball stops bouncing

Draymond Green is one of those insightful players who realizes that NBA balls will not bounce forever.  He is well on his way to living the good life, no matter what.

The good life for Green is not necessarily the high life.  As a Warrior, he still chose to live in a modest rental outside of San Francisco.  Green’s explanation:  I’ve been pretty broke my entire life.  I’m not going to live that same life, but I’m going to keep those same principles.

Wikipedia reports that Green identifies as a Christian.  Human relationships are particularly important to him.  The brotherly bond between him and teammate Steph Curry is well-known.  Green has stated:  It’s one of those things that goes far beyond basketball for me… when you’ve got somebody that’ll be in your life for the rest of your life, what does basketball really mean?

Even within the throes of the season, Green knows how to keep it real.  After losing last year’s Kia Defensive Player of the Year award to Kawhi Leonard, Green took it in stride.  He had “nothing but good things to say about Leonard,” adding that “there’s no shame in losing to such a great player.”

This, even though Green actually had more first-place votes.  Perhaps he was thinking, “And the first shall be second…”
