Upstanding Cardinal

Then-Archbishop Gregory   (Photo by DC-wiki-2020)

When “racial justice demonstrators” were tear-gassed so that President Trump could wave a Bible in front of a Washington DC church, then-Archbishop Gregory did not mince words.

He stood up and publicly denounced such actions.  Gregory also criticized fellow Catholics at the Knights of Columbus for hosting Trump the following day.  And long before “clerical sexual abuse” was justly dealt with, he had adopted a “zero tolerance” policy toward it.

Pope Francis recently “elevated Gregory to cardinal… the highest rank in the Roman Catholic Church." Gregory is now “the first Black American to reach that position.”
