When you see food going to waste, you have a choice: eat it, preserve it, share it - or wear it.
Jess Collins decided upon the latter. While working on an Australian mango farm, she observed a tremendous amount of unused fruit. In order to bring attention to this plight, Collins cleaned and dried the discarded pits, then sewed them onto a “full-length ball gown.”
Such a statement says it louder than any letter to the editor. And Collins may have started a trend. It turns out that mango seeds can be transformed into a “fibre like cotton.”
