Fashion Statement

When you see food going to waste, you have a choice:  eat it, preserve it, share it - or wear it.

Jess Collins decided upon the latter.  While working on an Australian mango farm, she observed a tremendous amount of unused fruit.  In order to bring attention to this plight, Collins cleaned and dried the discarded pits, then sewed them onto a “full-length ball gown.”

Such a statement says it louder than any letter to the editor.  And Collins may have started a trend.  It turns out that mango seeds can be transformed into a “fibre like cotton.”
