A Whale of a Species

Not a Bird    (NOAA photo)

Beaks are usually associated with birds.  No big deal.  We’re used to seeing them fly by.

But when a beaked something swims beneath your boat, you tend to take notice.  Especially if that something is huge.

Turns out that there’s probably a newly-discovered "beaked" whale species.  A team of marine researchers detected it with underwater recordings.  DNA samples can hopefully be analyzed in order to confirm its exact identity.
