Research
results that were published in JAMA Psychiatry indicate that “daily intellectual
activities” could significantly help to maintain
cognitive ability. Such activities also
include “board games or card games.”
Some experts
have questioned whether “reverse
causation” might be at play here. In other words: Is dementia the cause or result of a
lack of intellectual activity?
Nevertheless,
previous studies have supported the
theory that “engaging in mentally challenging
activities – even later in
life” can indeed be cognitively beneficial.
