It Can and Does Happen Here

Anyone who thinks that anti-Semitism died with Hitler hasn’t studied Twitter lately.

According to Anti-Defamation League findings, “about 3 million Twitter users posted or reposted at least 4.2 million anti-Semitic tweets in English over a 12-month period ending Jan. 28 [2018].”  That adds up to a whole lot of hatred.

Anti-Semitic incidents within the United States were more numerous last year than they had been in decades.  These might have been fueled by extremists who post virulent messages against Jews and others.

The ADL is urging Twitter to take a stand against such “hate-filled content.”  Free speech becomes quite costly when it leads to violence and death.
